Water Project in Tegal Maja Village

The village of Tegal Maja is located in the district of North Lombok.  The Access Life Lombok team first visited this community after the earthquakes in 2018. They had suffered significant loss from the earthquakes, and we were able to bring temporary water tanks, food, and clothes to help this community. They explained their need for some help in overcoming the village’s water issues as well. However, we had already made several promises to complete projects in other areas. We explained that we would come back after we finished these other projects to discuss the potential of partnering together to help the 148 individuals that live in Tegal Maja.

Towards the end of 2019 our team was able to fulfill this promise.  We met with local leaders and did a survey of their existing water system.  The community already had access to a natural spring that was developed prior to meeting Access Life Lombok.  The problem was with leaks in their pipe network.  After surveying the potential project, we agreed to partner together with this community to provide water pipe to replace the existing 1,300 meters of pipe between the spring and a water tank located in the village.  We broke the project up into three phases.

Our team has already completed Phase 1 of this project. Phase 1 included installing 700 meters of water pipe from the existing water tank located in the village to the first junction. However, as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic and an outbreak in this community, the project is currently on hold. We hope to complete Phase 2 and 3 as soon as possible.
