Purpose:
To provide relief to disabled individuals throughout the developing world by providing them with tools of access (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, etc).
- Access through Mobility Aids: teams enter villages and identify people with disabilities. Through assessment, intervention, and distribution of mobility aids (wheelchairs, walkers, building ramps, etc.) the teams transform the lives of these individuals and their families free of charge . Accountability and follow-up are documented on an on-going basis. We partnered with Free Wheelchair Mission (FWM) in 2010 and 510 wheelchairs are now being distributed throughout Indonesia. NUMBER OF PEOPLE IMPACTED BY ALI IN 2010: 210+
- It has been 6 years since Mrs. Wayan was able to walk. It started off as a hot and cold feeling all over her body, then she suffered a seizure and since then her legs have been weakening over time. For the first 5 years, she could still walk with the aid of a cane, but in this last year, Mrs. Wayan just cannot walk anymore. The team gave her a wheelchair so she can at least still be part of her household activities. Mrs. Wayan and her family would like to formally thank Access Life.
